The Bengals signed PK Josh Brown on Thursday, the team announced.
Mike Nugent, who has made 19-of-23 field goals this season, has a calf injury, which led to the Brown signing. Brown, 33, has not played this season. He spent the previous four years with the Rams.
In 2011, Brown converted 21-of-28 field-goal attempts, appearing in all 16 games. In his nine seasons, Brown has made 80.9 percent of his field goals.
To make room for Brown on the roster, the Bengals waived C Jeff Faine. Faine started the first seven games of the season, but has not played since Week Nine.
