Bengals retain LB Rey

The SportsXchange

Linebacker Vincent Rey, who was tendered last week as a restricted free agent, re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed by the team.

Rey joined the Bengals in 2010 as a free agent out of Duke and steadily worked his way into more playing time. Last year, he finished with 54 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He played in every regular-season and playoff game the past three seasons.

"Vinny is a tough guy and a pleasure to coach, and it's great to have him back in the fold," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "He really helped us in winning the division title last year."

Rey started three games last season in place of injured linebacker Rey Maualuga. One of Rey's best games came against the Ravens in Baltimore when he had three sacks and an interception.
