Bengals release DE Harvey
Defensive end Derrick Harvey, who was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2008 draft, was released by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The Bengals had signed Harvey to a one-year contract in the offseason, and by releasing him, the Bengals wasted the $60,000 signing bonus they gave Harvey.
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up 18 spots just to get Harvey with the No. 8 pick of the first round four years ago.
However, he had just eight sacks and 70 tackles in his three seasons with Jacksonville before being released last July.
Harvey, 25, played in five games with Denver last season, none as a starter, and recorded just two tackles and two assists with no sacks.
