Bengals promote Caskey to RB coach

The SportsXchange

The Cincinnati Bengals elevated Kyle Caskey to running backs coach, the team announced Friday.

Caskey is entering his fifth year on the Bengals' staff. He was assistant offensive line and offensive quality control coach the past two seasons.

Hue Jackson served as the Bengals' running backs coach last year. He was promoted to offensive coordinator this week when Jay Gruden left to become head coach of the Washington Redskins.

"Kyle has worked closely with our coordinators the last few seasons and with (OL coach) Paul Alexander," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "He's done a lot of direct work with our offensive line players. He's been in the staff meetings with the running back coaches.

"It's all been part of the evolution of a bright young coach, and the time comes when the opportunity's there to become a position coach on your own. That's where we are with Kyle, and it's great again that we have the person in-house to promote from within."

The Texas native played collegiately at Texas A&M and worked as a college assistant from 2004 to 2009. He left Mississippi to join the Bengals before the 2010 season.
