Bengals place RB Scott on IR

The SportsXchange

Running back Bernard Scott was placed on season-ending injured reserve by the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering a left knee injury Sunday.

The injury occurred during the first quarter of the Bengals' 17-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Scott was the primary backup to BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but had struggled to make an impact this season following a broken hand in training camp and an ankle injury in Week 3. Scott possesses more big-play speed than plowhorse Green-Ellis, which he displayed on a 29-yard run Sunday - the Bengals' longest of the season.

With Scott out, the backup carries will likely go to Brian Leonard and/or Cedric Peerman.

Green-Ellis leads the Bengals with 300 rushing yards, but on only 3.3 yards per carry. Scott had eight carries for 35 yards on the season before his injury. Leonard has six carries for 26 yards and Peerman five for 71, which included a 48-yard run off a fake punt in Week 4.

Linebacker Dontay Moch was activated by the Bengals after serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhacing substances policy. Cincinnati was given a one-week roster exemption for him last week.
