The linebacker position is beginning to take shape, as the Bengals rookie linebacker tweeted out something interesting.

The Cincinnati Bengals have one of those double-edged sword type of situations to deal with on Saturday with final cuts. It's no doubt that the front office has built a stacked roster to this point, but the issue is the releasing of talented players. As a former coach myself, cutdown day is the worst part of the job.

Former Arizona Wildcats linebacker Marquis Flowers was initially viewed as a longshot to make the Bengals' roster because of the incumbent depth in the position group. As the preseason wore on, Flowers impressed on the backup units and made a number of plays. A player that he was vying for a roster spot with, Sean Porter, went down with an injury the last preseason game.

On Saturday, Flowers tweeted out a message hinting at the fact that he received some good news form the club:

Flowers was a sixth round pick this year (No. 212 overall) and was a productive college player. He had 94 tackles, a sack and an interception that he returned for a touchdown as a senior last season in the desert. Interestingly enough, Flowers began his college career as a defensive back, but was transitioned to a linebacker/roamer role his final two seasons.

Obviously, no official announcement has been made by the club and this could mean a couple of things, but it is a bit more than coincidental that it came out on cutdown day. We'll have an eye on where Flowers is as the official roster is announced.
