COMMENTARY | Bellator 96 was an extremely entertaining fight card, with every bout on the main card ending via stoppage.
Here are the results of the Bellator 96 fight card held on June 19, at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla:
Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal def. Seth PetruzelliKing Mo wasn't playing around at Bellator 96, hurting Petruzelli early in the fight, almost forcing a stoppage. Unfortunately for him, referee John McCarthy reset the fight because of a phantom blow to the eye, giving Petruzelli a second chance.
That didn't seem to affect Lawal's focus though.
King Mo swiftly took Petruzelli down after the reset, subsequently knocking "The Silverback" out cold with a vicious right from guard 95 seconds into round one. With the win, Mo will meet Jacob Noe in the finals of the light-heavyweight tournament.
Jacob Noe def. Renato SobralNoe got the better of the striking exchanges during the first round, but Sobral mounted a comeback of sorts in the second round. Unfortunately for "Babalu," Noe hurt him late in the second round, and the Brazilian didn't seem fully recovered going into the third. Noe continued with his assault, wobbling Renato a few times until referee Kerry Hatley stepped in and saved him at 3:32 of round three.
Vitaly Minakov def. Ron SparksVitaly went right to work at Bellator 96, dropping Sparks with a big right hand. The Russian followed up with some ground-n-pound, forcing the stoppage 32 seconds into the contest.
War Machine def. Blas Avena
Avena got off to a solid start at Bellator 96, but War Machine found his groove as the fight progressed. After completing a trip midway through the first round, War Machine transitioned to a crucifix. He relentlessly pounded away at Avena's face until referee Kerry Hatley stepped in and stopped the contest at 3:55 of round one.
