Jurgen Klinsmann's roster for next week's friendly vs. Canada was pared by two on Tuesday, as San Jose fullback Steven Beitashour and Colorado forward Edson Buddle were shelved by injuries, US Soccer announced.

Beitashour, who played the second half of the 2012 season with a sports hernia that required postseason surgery, has headed back to San Jose for evaluation. Buddle, who was acquired by the Rapids from the LA Galaxy after the MLS Cup, is suffering from what was termed "problems in his right knee," which he'd previously injured back in June. The 2010 World Cup veteran will make his way back to Colorado for further testing by the Rapids medical staff.

No replacements are expected to be named for the two players. Right back (Tony Beltran, A.J. DeLaGarza, Alfredo Morales) and forward (Juan Agudelo, Chris Wondolowski, Will Bruin, Eddie Johnson) are the two deepest positions on the roster for the Canada game.

CONCACAF World Cup qualifying kicks off for the US on Feb. 6 with a trip to San Pedro Sula to face Honduras.
