Bears sign TE Maneri

Tight end Steve Maneri agreed to a two-year deal with the Chicago Bears. Financial terms were not disclosed.

A tight end at Temple, Maneri has moved between tight end and offensive tackle during his first three NFL seasons. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans, who attempted to convert him to tackle.

After spending most of the 2010 season on the New England Patriots' practice squad, Maneri landed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011 and emerged as a solid blocking tight end who was often used in short-yardage running situations by the Chiefs.

Maneri, 6-feet-7 and 280 pounds, has started nine of the 19 games he has appeared in over the past two seasons, catching six passes for 52 yards
