Bears sign TE Eldridge, waive RB Bell

Tight end Brody Eldridge signed with the Chicago Bears.

The third-year player was assigned to the St. Louis Rams on waivers from the Indianapolis Colts in May, but was suspended for the first four games of the 2012 regular season for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances. His suspension ended Sept. 30.

The Rams released Eldridge as part of their final roster cuts before the start of the season. He worked out for the Kansas City Chiefs last week but wasn't signed.

Eldridge played in 13 games for the Colts last season, including eight starts, and had nine receptions.

Running back Kahlil Bell was waived by the Bears. Bell appeared in two games this season and had 32 rushing yards on 12 carries (2.7 ypc) along with an 11-yard reception.
