Bears sign OL Britton

Offensive lineman Eben Britton signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, a day after having a tryout with the Seattle Seahawks.

Britton is a former first-round pick who started 30 of 38 career games for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Once considered the Jaguars' right tackle for the forseable future, Britton was plagued with injuries, moved to guard and twice lost his starting job last year.

He was benched in favor of Mike Brewster last season, and when Brewster was injured Britton promptly surrendered three sacks to the New York Jets and was benched again for former rookie practice squad member Auston Pasztor.

Britton, 6-feet-6, 308 pounds, was the 39th overall selection in the 2009 draft. He has 23 career starts at right tackle and seven at left guard.
