Linebacker Geno Hayes signed with the Bears, who released wide receiver Max Komar.
Hayes played in 56 games for the Bucs since being drafted in the sixth round out of Florida State in 2008, starting 42 times on the weak side and totaling 334 tackles, seven sacks and four career interceptions. His 29.5 tackles of a rusher for negative yardage is the most in the NFL since 2008, according to STATS, Inc.
With Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher locking down two starting jobs, Hayes will likely push Nick Roach for the third starting linebacker spot in Chicago.
Komar played in two games for the Bears last season, but did not catch a pass. He spent the first 10 weeks of the season on the practice squad.
