The Chicago Bears released veteran defensive end Jamaal Anderson on Saturday, according to ESPN.
Anderson was signed less than a month ago when Sedrick Ellis retired.
Anderson has been a disappointment since being taken No. 8 overall in the 2007 draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He started 48 of 77 games played with the Falcons (2007-10), Indianapolis Colts (2011) and Cincinnati Bengals (2012). He has 132 career tackles and just 7 1/2 sacks.
The move comes two days after the Bears beat the San Diego Chargers 33-28 in a preseason contest. Anderson had one tackle.
