Bayern organize benefit game for flood victims

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich has organized a benefit game to aid the victims of the recent flooding in the local region.

Bavarian minister president Horst Seehofer and Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have held talks and arranged a fund-raising benefit to support the victims of the disaster.

Bayern will contest a match against a Regional XI in Passau, with all revenue raised from the match being donated to victims in the flooded areas.

"Our team has benefited from so much support from the people of Bavaria over recent weeks and months," Rummenigge told the official Bayern site.

"In light of the dramatic images from the flooded areas, we now wish to give something back and contest a benefit match with our team to aid victims of the flood disaster."

This year Bayern became the first German team to win the treble as it cruised to Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal glory.
