Bayern Munich's Green will attend US training camp

CHICAGO (AP) -- Julian Green, an 18-year-old forward for Bayern Munich's reserves, will attend the U.S. national team's training camp in Europe next month even though he isn't currently eligible to play for the Americans.

A citizen of the U.S. and Germany, Green has played for Germany's under-19 team in official matches and would have to apply to FIFA for a change in association. Green attended a U.S. under-18 training camp in September 2012.

U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann says Green is a ''tremendous talent.'' He also says Friday ''We are thrilled to bring him into our camp and introduce him to the senior team program. We believe we could help him grow into a special player.''

The Americans have qualified for their seventh straight World Cup and play exhibitions at Scotland on Nov. 14 and at Austria four days later.
