Over the Friday, June 29, 2012 weekend, several fishing tournaments took place all across America. Some of the fishing tournaments were for the pros and others were for recreational anglers. With that said, here's a quick peek at some of the results:
Bassmaster Fishing Tournament Results
The Bassmaster Elite Series' Green Bay Challenge took place Thursday, June 28, 2012 through Sunday, July 1, 2012 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The big winner was Kalamazoo, Michigan, angler Jonathon VanDam. He caught 79 pounds, 2 ounces worth of fish. VanDam's fishing prowess earned him a $103,000 prize purse as well as a chance to fish in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic. The fishing tournament's remaining top five spots were captured by anglers Brandon Palaniuk, Aaron Martens, Dean Rojas and Ott DeFoe.
Toyota Tundra Angler of the Year Recap
When it comes to the 2012 Toyota Tundra Angler of the Year, anglers Brent Chapman, Ott DeFoe and Todd Faircloth continue to hold the top three spots on the leader board. Anglers Terry Scroggins and Bill Lowen round out the leader board's top five spots.
Walmart Bass Fishing League Results
The Walmart Bass Fishing League held two fishing tournaments on Saturday, June 30, 2012. The first fishing tournament took place on Neely Henry in Gadsden, Alabama. The second fishing tournament took place on Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Angler Wes Logan of Springville, Alabama, won the Neely Henry fishing tournament after catching 15 pounds, 1 ounce worth of fish. It netted him a payday in excess of $3,600. Angler Thomas Helton of Charleston, Tennessee, came in 2nd place. Helton managed to catch 14 pounds, 14 ounces worth of fish. The fishing tournament's remaining top five spots went to anglers Josh Bragg (AL), Jeff Knight (TN) and Tim Miller (AL). The full results of the Gallatin, Tennessee, fishing tournament have yet to be released.
Walmart FLW Tour Majors Division
The Walmart FLW Tour Majors Division's fishing tournament took place Thursday, June 28, 2012 through Sunday, July 1, 2012. Top honors went to angler David Dudley of Lynchburg, Virginia. Over the course of four days, David Dudley managed to coax 78 pounds, 8 ounces worth of fish out of Lake Champlain. His fishing finesse earned him a jaw-dropping payday well in excess of $100,000. It also kept him at the top of the 2012 Walmart FLW Tour Angler of the Year's leader board.
Dudley, however, wasn't the only angler on fire at Lake Champlain. Jacob Powroznik of Prince George, Virginia, caught 76 pounds, 14 ounces worth of fish. It left him securely in 2nd place and well over $25,000 richer. Powroznik also continues to hold onto the 2nd place spot on the 2012 Walmart FLW Tour Angler of the Year's leader board. The Lake Champlain fishing tournament's remaining top spots went to anglers Blake Nick (AL), Andy Morgan (TN) and Roland Martin (FL).
Walmart FLW Tour Angler of the Year Recap
The remaining 2012 Walmart FLW Tour Angler of the Year's top five spots are currently held by anglers Ron Shuffield (AR), Jim Moynagh (MN) and Cody Meyer (CA). There is just one stop remaining on the Walmart FLW Tour's Majors Division calander. It is none other than the venerable Forrest Wood Cup. The Forrest Wood Cup is expected to kick off on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Lake Lanier in Georgia.
