March 28 (The Sports Xchange) - Matt Harvey's Opening Day start for the New York Mets is in jeopardy. The Mets on Monday said Harvey would be scratched from his Tuesday start and he would not pitch the rest of spring training. Tuesday's appearance was supposed to be Harvey's final start of the spring before taking the mound for the Mets on Opening Day against the Royals in Kansas City on Sunday night in a rematch of last year's World Series. The Mets said Harvey saw a "non-orthopedic" doctor, but revealed little else. Manager Terry Collins said it's "hard to say about Opening Day" when asked about Harvey's status after the team said Harvey was being shut down this week. Collins added that Harvey's visit with the doctor was not related to his pitching arm and said the righty's elbow was fine. He characterized Harvey's ailment as a "mystery." -- Cleveland starting right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall will open the 2016 season on the disabled list. Chisenhall, a converted third baseman, injured his left wrist and will give way to either Marlon Byrd or Collin Cowgill. He had been cleared to play on Sunday, but on Monday reported the wrist was sore. According to multiple reports, the Indians will put Chisenhall on the 15-day DL later this week. Manager Terry Francona said Chisenhall might have aggravated the wrist by overcompensating for a right forearm issue. -- The rebuilding Atlanta Braves released veteran outfielder Nick Swisher. Swisher, 35, who was acquired along with outfielder Michael Bourn from the Cleveland Indians in August, was due to make $15 million this year, the most of any Braves player. Despite being released, the Braves are responsible to pay Swisher unless he is picked up by another team, which would reduce their portion of the $15 million. -- The Toronto Blue Jays claimed catcher/first baseman Jesus Montero off waivers. To clear a spot on the Toronto roster, catcher A.J. Jimenez was designated for assignment. Montero, 26, appeared in 38 games with the Mariners last season, hitting .223 with five home runs and 19 RBIs. Montero was acquired by Seattle from the New York Yankees on Jan. 20, 2012. He has appeared in 226 major league games, batting .253 with 28 homers and 104 RBIs. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
