May 17 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's Major League Baseball games. Dodgers 5, Angels 1 Joc Pederson homered twice, and Clayton Kershaw delivered another solid performance, lifting the Dodgers to a 5-1 victory over the Angels at Dodger Stadium. Kershaw struck out 11, walked none and limited the Angels to one run on four hits in eight innings. He extended his streak of 10 or more strikeouts to six consecutive games, making him the fifth pitcher since 1900 to have a streak at least that long, according to ESPN. Kershaw (6-1) has won all four of his starts in May, and he is 4-1 in five starts at home this season. A's 8, Rangers 5 Khris Davis hit a career-high three home runs, including a walk-off grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, leading the Oakland A's to an 8-5 victory against the Texas Rangers at the Oakland Coliseum on Tuesday night. Davis had two solo home runs to go with his grand slam, which came off closer Shawn Tolleson, and drove in a career-high six runs. Brewers 4, Cubs 2 Ben Zobrist broke up Chase Anderson's no-hit bid with a leadoff double in the eighth inning and Jason Hayward and Kris Bryant hit back-to-back homers in the ninth, but it wasn't enough to prevent Chicago from falling to Milwaukeeat Miller Park. Anderson was perfect through 5 1/3 innings, allowing his first runner of the day on a one-out walk to Miguel Montera. He struck out his next two batters to get out of the inning, then worked a perfect ninth before Zobrist slapped Anderson's first offering -- his 88th of the night -- off the wall in center. Indians 13, Reds 1 Danny Salazar pitched 7 1/3 strong innings and Cleveland's offense pummeled Cincinnati pitching for the second consecutive night at Progressive Field. In winning the first two games of the series, which will continue in Cincinnati on Wednesday and Thursday, Cleveland scored 28 runs on 36 hits. Mets 2, Nationals 0 Right-hander Noah Syndergaard struck out 10 over seven shutout innings as New York snapped a four-game losing streak by beating Washington at Citi Field. Curtis Granderson and Michael Conforto hit solo homers for the Mets, who won the first game of the season between the two teams expected to battle for the National League East title. New York pulled within a half-game of the division-leading Nationals. Mariners 10, Orioles 0 Nelson Cruz homered and had five RBIs, while Kyle Seager added a three-run shot, as Seattle continued its dominance on the road with a victory over Baltimore. Wade Miley entered the game 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA in three career starts against Baltimore. After a rocky first inning where he allowed two walks and loaded the bases, Miley settled down and retired 10 consecutive batters before Matt Wieters led off the fifth with a single to center. Rays 12, Blue Jays 2 Brad Miller had three hits and three RBIs and Chris Archer pitched six innings as Tampa Bay defeated Toronto. Taylor Motter, playing in just his second game, hit his first major league homer -- a two-run shot in the ninth against Toronto right-hander Drew Storen as a pinch-hitter for Miller. Tigers 7, Twins 2 Ian Kinsler and J.D. Martinez clubbed back-to-back homers during a seven-run, seventh-inning outburst and Detroit won its third straight by overpowering Minnesota at Comerica Park. The two-run shot by Kinsler, the Tigers' leadoff hitter, gave him a team-high nine homers. Martinez, who had two hits, hit his eighth of the season. Phillies 3, Marlins 1 Vince Velasquez and five relievers combined for 17 strikeouts as Philadelphia beat Miami. Tommy Joseph, installed in the cleanup spot by manager Pete Mackanin, went 3-for-4 with his first major league home run for Philadelphia, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Pirates 12, Braves 9 Pittsburgh built a 9-0 lead then held to beat Atlanta, ruining the debut of interim manager Brian Snitker. The Pirates had a season-high 21 hits in winning their third straight game with everyone in the starting lineup having at least one. Rockies 3, Cardinals 1 Chad Bettis worked 6 2/3 solid innings night as Colorado extended its winning streak to five games with a victory over St. Louis at Busch Stadium. Bettis did not allow a hit beyond the infield until St. Louis pieced together three two-out singles in the seventh, knocking him out after an RBI hit by pinch hitter Randal Grichuk. Royals 8, Red Sox 4 Paulo Orlando went 3-for-4 with a home run and triple and drove in four runs and Yordano Ventura pitched effectively into the sixth inning as Kansas City topped Boston. The defending World Series champion Royals won back-to-back games for the first time since April 21-22 and evened their record at 19-19. The Red Sox, who lead the majors with 233 runs, scored less than five runs for the first time in nine games. Astros 6, White Sox 5 (11 innings) Evan Gattis drilled a two-run home run off Matt Albers in the 11th inning, leading Houston over Chicago at U.S. Cellular Field. Gattis, the Astros' designated hitter, was recalled from the minor leagues earlier in the day with the hope of adding some offensive punch to a struggling lineup. He went 2-for-4, and his homer made it 6-4, a cushion the Astros needed for the win. Diamondbacks 5, Yankees 3 Jake Lamb hit his second homer in as many nights and Zack Greinke gave up a season-low five hits in Arizona's victory over New York at Chase Field. Lamb's two-run homer in the fifth inning gave the Diamondbacks a 5-1 lead and helped Greinke (4-3) to his fourth victory in his last five decisions. Giants 5, Padres 1 Madison Bumgarner went the distance, and Brandon Crawford drove in five runs as surging San Francisco beat San Diego.
