Arrieta, who threw a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Sunday, struck out seven and walked none in his majors-leading 18th victory of the season. The Cubs (77-57) are second in the National League Wild Card race behind the Pittsburgh Pirates. - - Rays 3, Yankees 2 Left-hander Matt Moore and four relievers combined on a five-hitter as the Tampa Bay Rays held on for a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees. Moore allowed two runs and three hits in 4-2/3 innings, while Xavier Cedeno (4-1) earned the win after he struck out four in 1-2/3 scoreless innings. - - Blue Jays 5, Orioles 1 Jose Bautista homered and had two RBIs while David Price pitched seven innings as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles. Ramirez ripped a three-run blast in the fourth inning before catcher Soto connected in the seventh for his ninth home run of the season. Quintana (8-10) allowed seven hits in seven shutout innings. He walked none and struck out four. - - Nationals 8, Braves 2 Gio Gonzalez allowed just two hits in six shutout innings while center fielder Bryce Harper had a homer, two doubles and two RBIs as the Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves. Gonzalez (10-7) struck out 10 batters and walked four before Casey Janssen came on to pitch a scoreless seventh. It was the 12th time Gonzalez had recorded at least 10 strikeouts in a game. - - Giants 7, Rockies 3 Veteran Jake Peavy helped the Giants with the ball and bat to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-3 and break a seven-game losing streak. Peavy doubled twice, scoring one run in the fifth and driving in another in the sixth when the Giants increased their lead to 5-1. Peavy (5-6) also allowed four hits and one walk, with five strikeouts in 5-2/3 innings and gave up a two-run homer to third baseman Nolan Arenado. - - Dodgers 2, Padres 0 Left-hander Alex Wood shut out the San Diego Padres on three hits over seven innings while Andre Ethier scored both runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers won 2-0. The win was the Dodgers' 10th in their last 12 games and kept them 7-1/2 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. - - Rangers 2, Angels 1 Left-hander Derek Holland conceded just three hits in eight innings in the Texas Rangers' 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Holland (3-1) retired 13 of 15 batters between the first and fifth innings, including eight in succession, collected five strikeouts and yielded just one run and two walks. Closer Shawn Tolleson recorded his 29th save by pitching a perfect ninth inning. - - Mariners 8, Athletics 3 Felix Hernandez pitched eight solid innings as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Oakland Athletics 8-3.
