Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Barons 5, Wolves 2

The SportsXchange

It took some time for the Oklahoma City Barons to solve the Chicago Wolves' defense and goalie Matt Climie, but after nearly 90 minutes of being stymied, they did.

And once they did, the Barons were able to cruise to a 5-2 win Sunday afternoon at Cox Convention Center.

The two teams met for the second time in two days -- the Wolves and Climie shut down the Barons in a one-sided affair on Saturday night, 3-0.

And early on Sunday, it looked like the Wolves were going to repeat Saturday's performance. The Wolves showed good puck movement throughout the first period, and Oklahoma City (35-24-2-8) provided plenty of pressure on the power play, but the first 20 minutes ended scoreless.

Chicago right wing Brett Sterling eventually got the scoring started while the Wolves (34-26-5-4) were on the man advantage beating Yann Danis at 3:16 of the second frame. After losing nearly two months of time with an injury earlier this winter, Sterling has tallied points in seven of his nine games since returning.

Forward Andrew Gordon added another Wolves goal a moment later when he got his stick on a bouncing rebound and fired it back at Danis and into the net at the 4:22 mark of the period.

The Barons finally broke their drought over two days when left wing Teemu Hartikainen finally found a hole, tipping a puck over Climie's stick side at 9:27.

Chicago held on to their 2-1 lead until midway through the third period, when a giveaway at center ice by Chicago was the catalyst for a Barons goal from Ryan Martindale 9:26 into the frame.

With the score knotted at two goals apiece, left wing Toni Rajala followed up with another Oklahoma City goal seconds later, taking a cross-ice feed and flipping the puck over Climie's left shoulder to put the Barons ahead 3-2 at 10:19.

Holding tight to their first lead, Rajala came calling again, capitalizing on a Barons power play and ripping another shot, making the score 4-2.

The Wolves pulled Climie late in the third, which allowed forward Philippe Cornet to pot the last bit of insurance for the Barons victory.
