At the Barclays, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Zach Johnson Played Well

Thursday, August 23, 2012 saw the first day of The Barclays get underway, and the three top players in the world had good rounds. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Zack Johnson are all within a few shots of being at the top of the leaderboard. Their group promised to be the most exciting matchup of the Barclays, which is being played from Thursday, August 23, 2012 to Sunday, August 26, 2012, and fans were not disappointed. As fans watched Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Zach Johnson at the Barclays, they were able to see the golfer's different skills and golf techniques. The tournament's first day was a treat, and the second day of play, Friday, August 24, 2012 promises to be just as exciting.

    Tiger Woods at the Barclays

The fact that the best players are in this tournament speaks volumes for it. With each of these names with The Barclays tournament, it has certainly gained a lot of recognition and importance. Day 1 saw a mixed outing for Tiger, as he putted plenty of birdies but also had a few holes where he ran into some trouble. This was a typical Tiger Woods day, with some amazing shots and some troubling ones.

1 under is not a bad score for Tiger Woods, especially as he is known for improving in the remaining three days of a tournament. Friday, August 24, 2012 will be important for Tiger Woods as he will need to catch up on the likes of Padraig Harrington and Nick Watney who are on 7 under and 6 under respectively.

    Rory McIlroy at the Barclays

The task is slightly less for Rory McIlroy who had a 3 under par day. He improved a lot over the last 9 holes and he will hope that Friday, August 24, 2012 will bring about even more joy for him. He is only within four shots of the leaders and will be hoping to be among the lead bunch before the weekend starts. Rory McIlroy has shown he can handle the media spotlight, playing alongside Tiger Woods. Rory McIlroy, however, still has not proved he can beat Tiger Woods when the pressure is on. Perhaps on Friday, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will battle it down to the wire.

    Zach Johnson at the Barclays

Zach Johnson struggled a bit with the course and ended up even for the day. This puts him seven shots away from Harrington and you have to say that Johnson is an outside bet for this tournament. There are plenty of great players ahead of him in the standings and he will have to do really well tomorrow to be in contention. Against Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson appears to be just below their outstanding level of play.

The FedEx Cup Projected Standings show that Padraig Harrington would go to 1 if things stayed this way. In second would be Tiger Woods ,and Rory McIlroy would assume the third position in the FedEx Cup Projected Standings.
