Jordi Alba: Barcelona wants Champions League glory again

Barcelona full back Jordi Alba has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Getafe after failing to recover from flu in time.

The 23-year-old joins Andres Iniesta and Alexis Sanchez on the sidelines.

But there is cause for optimism following the good news that captain Carles Puyol is available for selection after recovering from a fractured cheekbone

Andres Iniesta misses out due to a hamstring injury that he sustained on international duty with Spain while Alexis Sanchez also misses the trip to Coliseum Alfonso Pérez after tearing a thigh muscle which meant he had to train in isolation this morning.

Puyol, who suffered a fractured cheekbone against Osasuna on Aug. 26, has been given medical clearance to play against the Madrid-based side but must wear a facemask.

Tito Vilanova has named 19 players (17 from the first team plus Tello and Deulofeu of Barça B) for the Liga match against Getafe on Saturday.

Barcelona lost 1-0 to Getafe last November.
