The Atlanta Falcons, who have faced more issues than they expected on the offensive line this season despite bringing back two of the three free agents from a year ago, will be without left tackle Sam Baker for the immediate future.
Coach Mike Smith announced today Baker will miss the next three or four games with a back injury, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Baker was replaced temporarily by Will Svitek last month after struggles by the line.
The first-round draft pick from 2008 has a history of back issues. He had surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back during his rookie season. It’s not believed he needs surgery right now, but he will be sidelined. The Falcons added Kirk Chambers for depth last week.
