Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical:

Back condition limits Michigan's McGary

Michigan's preseason All-America candidate, Mitch McGary, has a "lower back condition" and will be limited in practice, the school announced before conducting its first full practice on Friday.

"The U-M athletic medicine staff has been monitoring his progress and he is working diligently through this process," Wolverines coach John Beilein said in a news release. "At this point, his full participation is day-to-day, with an expected return to be determined."

McGary has had some injury issues in the past. He missed a good portion of his freshman season because of an injury to his foot and ankle. Beilein said McGary's back has caused problems since McGary arrived on campus around Labor Day.

"It's been day-to-day pretty much all fall. Now we just move forward from there and we're very hopeful it's gone before too long," Beilein said before practice. "He had a great summer; he's done some on-and-off things this fall."

The 6-foot-10 forward played a key role in Michigan's march to the National Championship Game last season. In six games, he averaged 14.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
