EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Edwardsville native Anthony Campbell scored 21 points and Austin Peay shot 57 percent from the field, defeating SIU-Edwardsville 83-71 Saturday night.
Austin Peay (10-13, 6-7 Ohio Valley) never trailed, jumping out to a 28-6 lead and maintaining a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Campbell and fellow Edwardsville native Will Triggs each scored eight points during the opening spurt, as did Travis Betran.
Since losing eight straight games, the Governors have won two straight - their first road victories of the season.
Betran finished with 17 points, Triggs had 14 and Chris Horton had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
SIU-Edwardsville (10-13, 6-7) got 21 points from Mark Yelovich, 17 from Tim Johnson, 12 from Kris Davis and 11 from Michael Messer.
The Cougars, who dismissed leading scorer Jerome Jones from the team this week, were coming off a big win Thursday over Murray State and had been 8-3 at home this season.
