Attorney expresses confidence in process with Michael Crabtree

National Football Post

The attorney representing Michael Crabtree expressed “confidence in the process” a day after the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver met with police regarding a sexual assault investigation.

Crabtree and attorney Joshua M. Bentley met with the San Francisco Police Department on Friday, the day the 49ers left for Atlanta where they will play in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Falcons at the Georgia Dome.

Police are investigating a sexual assault that allegedly took place on Sunday in a San Francisco hotel after the 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs. Crabtree, who has not been charged with a crime, scored two touchdowns in that game.

“On Friday, January 18, 2013, Michael Crabtree voluntarily met with the San Francisco Police Department and provided a statement,” Bentley said in a statement provided to CSN Bay Area. “Michael fully cooperated with the inspectors and will continue to do so throughout the investigation. We have confidence in the process. Out of respect and integrity for the process, we have no further comment at this time.”

According to the report, the Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident and when it wraps up the information will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
