Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the Atlanta Falcons' key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.
Matt Ryan, QB
Ryan had a monster week earning 32.46 fantasy points against the Kansas City Chiefs. This week he faces a Denver Broncos' defense that gave up 17.20 fantasy points to Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger last week. While Ryan may not have a repeat of his spectacular Week 1 performance, look for him to come out strong and earn 20.00 fantasy points on the night.
Michael Turner, RB
Turner had a lackluster game last week against the Chiefs earning just 3.20 fantasy points. This week he faces a Denver defense that allowed just 3.90 fantasy points to Pittsburgh running backs last week. While Turner is a quality running back and a legitimate scoring threat, the Falcons are just too successful with the pass for Turner to have the opportunity to score more. Look for an 8.00 fantasy point game this week.
Julio Jones, WR
Jones finished the week earning 22.80 fantasy points against Kansas City. This week he faces a Broncos' defense that gave up 17.50 fantasy points to Pittsburgh wide receivers last week. As Ryan's primary target, Jones is someone who can be counted on to put up big numbers each week. He has a great matchup and should put up at least 14.00 fantasy points this week.
Roddy White, WR
White had a solid week against the Chiefs earning 8.70 fantasy points on eight targets. This week he shares the favorable matchup with Jones against the Broncos. White should see his fair share of targets this week and while his fantasy numbers may be less than Jones, he is still a viable option on any starting lineup. Look for a 10.00 fantasy point game this week.
Tony Gonzalez, TE
Gonzalez finished the week earning 11.30 fantasy points against Kansas City. This week he faces a Denver defense that allowed 11.00 fantasy points to Pittsburgh's Heath Miller last week. Look for Gonzalez to keep the momentum going against the Broncos scoring 8.00 fantasy points this week.
Atlanta closed the week scoring 9.00 fantasy points against Kansas City. This week they face a Denver team that gave up just 4.00 fantasy points to the Pittsburgh Steelers strong defensive unit. Peyton Manning could pose a challenge for the Falcons if he plays as strong as he did in Week 1. Look for an 8.00 fantasy point performance this week.
