Astros place outfielder Martinez on disabled list

The SportsXchange

The Houston Astros on Saturday placed outfielder J.D. Martinez on the 15-day disabled list after he sprained his right knee in a 3-2 win against the Indians on Friday.

Martinez, 25, was batting .244 with two home runs and seven RBI.

To replace Martinez on the roster, the Astros activated outfielder Fernando Martinez, who went on the DL on March 27 with a strained left oblique. In 41 games with the Astros in 2012, Martinez hit.237 with six home runs and 14 RBI.
