Arsenal keeping tabs on Adler but no approach yet, says Hamburg sporting director Arnesen

Hamburg has had no contact over goalkeeper Rene Adler despite strong interest from Arsenal, according to sporting director Frank Arnesen.

The Gunners are reportedly in the market for another keeper, with Stoke's Asmir Begovic and Sunderland's Simon Mignolet rumoured to be on Arsene Wenger's wish list.

But with Stoke and Sunderland putting hefty price tags of around 18 million euros on their players, the Arsenal manager has started looking elsewhere, with Adler likely to come at a much lower price - but Arnesen has revealed an approach has yet to take place.

"We know Arsenal are looking [at Adler], but no one has contacted us yet," the 56-year-old told Bild.

Wenger's scouts have been watching Adler for some time, and comparisons have been made between the 28-year-old and legendary Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

Adler himself, meanwhile, is determined not to be fazed by all the transfer talk, although he admitted he is flattered by the attention.

"For any player it is an honor [to be targeted]," he said. "It is something that inspires me more, but it is not distracting me."
