Arizona safety charged with four felonies

Arizona safety Patrick Onwuasor is no longer with the football program after being charged with four felonies.

The City of Tucson announced Tuesday that Onwuasor, 20, was arraigned Monday on charges of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony drug offense and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez said in a statement that Onwuasor, who played in 12 of 13 games last season as a freshman reserve and had 36 tackles, was not on the team. Onwausor was expected to contend for a starting job this season.

"We are aware of the situation with Patrick Onwuasor. He has been removed from the program," Rodriguez said.

The arrest was the result of an April home invasion investigation in Tucson. Onwuasor has not been charged in the home invasion.
