BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- Rantavious Gilbert scored a career-high 22 points and Michael Obacha had a career-high 17 rebounds to lead Appalachian State to a dominating 100-68 win over Milligan of the NAIA Saturday.
The Mountaineers won the rebound battle handedly, pulling down 58 compared to 34 for Milligan (8-4).
Milligan held a 6-4 lead at the 17:30 mark, but a Neal jumper tied it and Burgess followed with another jump shot to give Appalachian State the lead. Hamilton then hit a 3-pointer and the Mountaineers moved to a 17-6 lead with 14:47 remaining in the first half. They held a comfortable 50-39 halftime lead.
The Mountaineers scored 10 unanswered points to start the second half.
Torian Sitton led Milligan with 12 points while Cartree Pettis contributed 10.
