What's buzzing:

Antoine Winfield could still be a fit for Redskins

National Football Post

The Washington Redskins achieved their goal of bringing back DeAngelo Hall at a reduced salary and now they might pull off something few expected.

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, there is “high mutual interest” between the Redskins and another veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield. He’s already visited the team and is now on vacation. The most pressing question might be whether or not Washington can squeeze Winfield in under its tight salary cap situation.

Hall and Josh Wilson project to be the team’s starting cornerbacks and Winfield could fill a nickel role. According to the report, the Redskins say they have a plan to make Winfield fit in their cap structure. The Minnesota Vikings are also believed to be interested in bringing him back. They cut him instead of paying him more than $7 million this season, a decision that was difficult for the franchise.
