Anthony Davis put up 40 points and recorded 21 rebounds to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a close victory over the Boston Celtics, 121-120. New Orleans (27-39) gets one in the win column after losing to Portland on Friday.
Davis shot 14-22 and went 12-12 from the free throw line, in a strong performance. Eric Gordon also chipped in for New Orleans, finishing with 19 points and 8 assists. Jeff Green had another strong game for Boston in the loss, putting up 39 points on 12-23 shooting (4-7 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 11-12 from the free throw line. Kris Humphries chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds and Jared Sullinger finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds.
Boston (22-45) has now lost four consecutive games.
Coming up, the Pelicans play the Toronto Raptors, who are 37-28 on the season. The Celtics meet the Dallas Mavericks, currently sitting at 39-27 this year. The Pelicans are 0-1 versus Toronto this season. The Celtics have a 0-1 record against Dallas this season.
