Anthony Davis put up his 19th double-double this season, scoring 27 points and registering 10 rebounds, to help the New Orleans Pelicans sneak by the Memphis Grizzlies, 95-92. This is only the second win for New Orleans (16-24) in its last 10 games.
Davis went 9-22 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line. Other top performers for New Orleans were Tyreke Evans with 15 points and 7 assists, and Alexis Ajinca with 10 points and 6 rebounds. On 10-19 shooting from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line, Zach Randolph scored 23 points for Memphis in the loss. He also tallied 20 rebounds. Marc Gasol added 14 points and 8 rebounds.
The Grizzlies dished out 16 assists versus 17 turnovers, a ratio of just .94. They are winless (0-3) on the season when committing more errors than assists in a game. The Pelicans, on the other hand, are undefeated (5-0) when forcing opponents beneath 1.00 in assist-to-turnover ratio.
This defeat means an end to a five-game winning streak for Memphis, pushing their record to 20-20 for the year.
