Andruw Jones' wife seeks divorce

The wife of former Atlanta Braves outfielder Andruw Jones filed for divorce Monday in a suburban Atlanta court.

Nicole Jones said in the complaint that their 10-year marriage was irretrievably broken. She is seeking primary custody of the couple's 9-year-old son, child support alimony and half the couple's property holdings, according to the suit. She also is requesting nullification of a prenuptial agreement.

The divorce papers do not mention Andruw Jones' arrest on a battery charge at their home on Christmas morning after he allegedly dragged his wife down a staircase when she asked for help to assemble a gift, grabbed her by the neck and threatened to kill her. Gwinnett County Police found signs of injuries to her neck when he entered the home.

Jones has signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with play in Japan next season with the Rakuten Eagles.
