Andrew Cashner: (Thumb) Likely To Start Season On DL

Rotowire.com
Update: Cashner needed surgery after recently stabbing his thumb in a hunting accident, and will likely start next season on the DL, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Recommendation: While the incidence was described by manager Bud Black as "minor," Cashner's expected to need three months to recover after surgery to repair a lacerated tendon in his thumb. It's not a lock that he'll be unavailable to start the season, but the injury will likely hinder Cashner's bid for a starting spot come spring.
