Andretti fastest on Day 4 of Indy practice

Marco Andretti recorded the fastest time during Tuesday's practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and it was also the fastest time in the first four days of practice for the Indianapolis 500.

Driving for Andretti Autosport, Andretti recorded a lap time of 40.2367 seconds and a speed of 223.676 mph on Day 4 of practice.

However, the top 25 fastest times were within one second of Andretti's.

"I don't think anybody is going to able to lead for more than a couple of laps," Andretti told IndyCar.com. "It's going to be a great show for the fans."

Helio Castroneves was second fastest on Tuesday on the 2.5-mile course with a speed of 222.025, and James Hinchcliffe was third at 221.864 mph.

Josef Newgarden, who had posted the fastest times in two of the first three days of practice, was 12th on Tuesday, with a speed of 220.650 mph.

He still holds the second-fastest time for the month. His speed of 222.486 during a previous practice is behind only Andretti's speed on Tuesday.

On Friday, drivers will turn their attention to setups for qualification, as they will be allowed an extra 40-50 horsepower by turning up their turbochargers.

Pole day is May 19, and the Indy 500 is scheduled for May 27.
