After "shoulder bumping" UFC contender, Chael "the American Gangster" Sonnen at the UFC 148 weigh-ins, has UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva created a new move for fighters to use during stare-downs? In an interview with MMA Insider, Ariel Helwani, Sensei Steven Segal said that Anderson is prepared with "fierce determination to dominate and exterminate" Chael.
As if fans needed any more encouragement to watch this fight.
Last time Anderson was angry with his opponent, he wore a white mask and shoved his face into Vitor Belfort's face during their stare-down. That fight ended badly with Vitor getting front-kicked (Steven Segal style) by the champion at 3:25 of the first round at UFC 126.
I'm curious to see what "two or three" nasty--and supposedly legal--surprises Steven Segal and Team Anderson have cooked up to take the wind out of Chael's sails and leave him face down, out cold on the the mat. Segal said, "In this fight, we're not going to be nice. In this fight, we're going to be really, really deep." video
Will Steven Segal's new moves be effective in keeping the fight standing?
Chael Sonnen has been unrelenting in his bullying of Anderson Silva. Chael pushed Anderson over the edge by insulting his family and his homeland. That shoulder bump suggests Anderson "the Spider" will come out firing weapons instead of his usual evaluation phase--testing to see how his opponent responds and looking for patterns and opportunities to drop deadly blows.
If Anderson (31-4-0) stuffs Chael's impressive take downs early in the first round, the momentum may shift causing Chael to lose confidence in his most effective offensive move. FightMetric has Chael (27-11-1) scoring an average of four take downs in 15 minutes.
@arielhelwani: "The shoulder bump heard round the world. RT @ekc: http://youtu.be/9uyuCCZ0fZo here is the staredown and friendly nudge"
@m3mma: "Bob Sapp fell over just watching. RT @JasonNawara: Andrei Arvloski would've been horribly KO'd by Anderson's shoulder bump. # UFC148"
@Nina_candy: "People it was a little shoulder bump!! I shoulder barge 100 people a day at rush hour in London!!! Calm the heck down!! # UFC148"
UFC 148: Silva vs Sonnen 2 Predictions
MMAHeat's Karen Bryant joined "UFC Tonight" on Fuel TV as Guest Host of the show with former UFC fighter, MMA Analyst Kenny Florian. UFC middleweight fighter, Michael Bisping joined the team as Guest Analyst and gave his predictions and thoughts on what might happen during Silva vs Sonnen 2.
Chael Sonnen gets the affirmative nod from both Michael Bisping and Kenny Florian.
Michael Bisping on Silva vs. Sonnen II: "As we all know, styles make a fight and seeing Chael Sonnen's style of fighting - it's a bad recipe for Anderson Silva. Chael did very well in the last fight and the fact that he did so is going to give him a lot of confidence and that is a big thing in this fight. I think it is a bad style match up and I think Chael gets the job done."
Florian breaks down the first fight between Silva vs. Sonnen: "There's no mystery to what Chael is going to do. He was successful in the first fight. Chael's take downs were money for him through that fight. Chael's ground and pound was successful throughout the fight. He's very good at getting in on your legs. He puts a lot of pressure on you when he takes you down. He had 320 strikes landed on Silva in that fight - probably more than Silva has been hit with in his entire career. The one thing that Silva did right in this fight was the submission, which was pretty much the only mistake that Chael made in this fight. And, it compromised him and gave Silva the win...People are going to think I'm crazy, but I'm going with Chael Sonnen, the trash talker. Chael is getting this."
Michael Bisping Weighs In On Silva Vs. Sonnen II: UFC Tonight video
I'm going with Silva to win. I predict this fight looks completely different from the first one. Sort of like the second time GSP fought Matt Serra. GSP was awake and ready to take his belt back at UFC 83. Serra got his clock cleaned. What's your prediction?
