LOS ANGELES (AP) -- UCLA rebounded from its Thursday loss to No. 1 Arizona with an 87-72 victory over Arizona State University in a Pac-12 Conference game Sunday night.
Kyle Anderson scored 17 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and had 7 assists as the Bruins (13-3, 2-1) beat the Sun Devils (13-4, 2-2) for the 7th time in 8 games. Anderson recorded his ninth double-double of the season.
Zach LaVine made 8-of-12 shots and scored 19 points.
Jordan Adams scored 15 points; Bryce Alford added 13 and Norman Powell scored 11 points for UCLA, which improved to 64-18 all-time against ASU.
The Bruins also improved to 11-1 at home this season.
The Sun Devils jumped out to a 12-6 lead following a 3-pointer by Jermaine Marshall at the 15:33 mark of the first half.
UCLA responded with a 14-0 spurt, highlighted by two 3-pointers by LaVine, to take a 20-12 lead with 12:11 left in the opening half.
LaVine continued with a hot hand as he scored four consecutive baskets for UCLA to increase the Bruins lead to 37-20 lead with 5:44 left in the half. UCLA upped its lead to 41-21 following a basket by Adams with 4:36 left in the half.
The Bruins used good ball movement, effective passing and an aggressive defense to create separation. UCLA led 50-33 at the break.
ASU cut the lead to 73-64 on a basket by Shaquielle McKissic with 6:25 to play but Alford followed with two baskets to up the lead to double digits and hold off the Sun Devils late charge.
The Sun Devils leading scorer coming into the game, Jahii Carson averaging 18.6 points per game, was held to 9 points on 4-of-17 shooting.
Marshall made 9 of 14 shots and led ASU with 25 points. Jordan Bachynski added 14 points and had 8 rebounds and Jonathan Gilling scored 10 points for the Sun Devils. Marshall has scored 20 or more points six times this season.
Bachynski also had two blocked shots and moved into the second place all-time in blocked shots in the Pac-12 with 259 - passing Channing Frye. Bachynski needs 20 more blocks to become the all-time leader and pass Anthony Cook of Arizona.
ASU was attempting to record its first sweep of the LA schools (Southern California and UCLA) on the road since the 1986-87 season. The Sun Devils defeated the Trojans on Thursday, 79-60, but fell short on Sunday.
The Bruins won the battle of the boards by a 42-29 margin and is 11-0 this season when out-rebounding its opponent. UCLA also forced 14 turnovers.
ASU, which leads the Pac-12 in 3-point field goals, made 10-of-25 shots beyond the arc and have now made 143 3-pointers on the season.
