With UFC champion, Anderson Silva making uncharacteristic cold-hearted, bone-breaking threats aimed at challenger, Chael Sonnen on a UFC conference call yesterday, fans are even more focused on UFC 148. These two fighters will meet for the second time on July 7th to settle the question of who is the baddest man on the planet. Because Chael very nearly defeated the champion, he has been steadily moving towards the day when he can finally defeat Anderson Silva and claim the championship belt.
But will that really happen?
On the conference call where Anderson declared his intention to break Chael's teeth and most of the bones in his body, Chael was the one who played it cool, calm and collected. But, with his usual hubris, Chael declared that this fight between him and Anderson would gain more attention than the 2012 Olympics.
From my point of view, truer words were never spoken. Multi-millions of Brazilians who are offended by Chael's treatment of their national hero will be tuning in and discussing what new weapon cold-hearted, Anderson might use against Chael.
The Olympics seem "nice and safe" compared to this battle of the Titans competing for the world's attention.
The Olympics will have to wait to reclaim people's attention once this epic battle is over.
Revenge is a dish best served cold
I predict that a cold-blooded, angry Anderson Silva will show up on July 7th. Cold anger, not hot. I believe that he won't let Chael disrupt his rhythm or throw off his game.
I think Chael will show up the same way--cold, bold and like a military man on a mission. I can't wait. It's going to be like two relentless fighters featured in a video game--with each man absolutely determined to win.
Who are you picking? Anderson Silva or Chael Sonnen?
Are there people in the world who are still undecided as to who they would like to see win?
I don't know how you could sit on the fence with this match-up. Anytime I ask, people have chosen a side. Neither man has the monopoly on votes either. In my world, if I find someone who is cheering for Anderson, someone else pipes up saying that they're rooting for Chael.
Whichever fighter wins, I don't think that this fight will be a disappointment--even with all the hype and expectation around it.
Every fighter has a puncher's chance of winning--or a front kicker's chance of winning.
Yeah, you know whose side I'm on.
