During the Olympic games, Final Five member Gabby Douglas watched herself be torn apart by internet trolls who dubbed her “Crabby Gabby” for not appearing supportive enough of her teammates during the all-around team competition (Douglas reportedly wasn’t as smiley as her other teammates in the stands) or patriotic enough during the medal ceremony (Douglas did not have her hand on her heart).

The comments deeply affected her, she told reporters during the games: “I’ve been trying to stay off the internet because it is so much negativity. When they talk about my hair or me not putting my hand on my heart or me being salty in the stands and, you know, really criticizing me…. It doesn’t feel good. For me, it was a little bit hurtful.”

Now, with the games behind them, Final Five team captain Aly Raisman opened up to E! News about what she, Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian were doing behind the scenes to help their teammate. “We all just tried to cheer her up, and I tried to tell her, like, you can’t be on the internet and Google yourself because-I mean, I don’t do it,” Raisman admitted. “I’m too afraid. I’m sure any person that’s ever done an interview, if you Google yourself obviously you see negative things about yourself, but we just tried to tell her to stay positive and to be there for her.”

The attention should be on Douglas’s performance: “She did an amazing job in the team competition. She did the best bar routine she could possibly do and she was picked on this team for that reason, to do that, and she did it so we were all really proud of her and we’re excited. She’s going to be on the tour with us, so we’re going to have a lot of fun.”
