Miami Heat guard Ray Allen broke the NBA career record for postseason 3-pointers during Thursday's game against his original team, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Allen entered the night with 317 postseason 3-pointers, three behind Reggie Miller's record total. He hit three in the first half against the Bucks, then sank the record-breaker with 8:38 left in the fourth quarter.
Acquired by the Bucks in a draft-day trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1996, Allen played in Milwaukee until a February 2003 deal sent him to the Seattle SuperSonics. Allen helped lead Milwaukee to the 2001 Eastern Conference finals. He won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008, and he reached the NBA Finals with Boston in 2010.
Coming off the bench for Miami this season, Allen averaged 10.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
