Allen part of ceremony to honor Davis
Former Los Angeles Raiders running back Marcus Allen will light the ceremonial flame in honor of late team owner Al Davis before Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Comcast Sports Net Bay Area reported Friday.
Allen is appearing at the ceremony at the request of Raiders owner Mark Davis (Al Davis' son), who took over the team after Al Davis died last year.
Allen spent 11 seasons with the Raiders but had a falling out with Davis in 1992. He was the 10th overall pick in the 1982 draft, rushed for 190 yards with two touchdowns in Super Bowl XVIII victory and the league's MVP in 1985.
The reasons for the fallout are still not known.
"What do you think about a guy that has attempted to ruin your career?" Allen said in 1992. "He told me he was going to get me. We've had conversations. I don't know for what reason, but he told me he was going to get me."
Allen and Davis did not reconcile, at least publicly, before Davis died.
