Allegri: Crucial month for Milan

Massimiliano Allegri believes AC Milan's fortunes this season could rest on its results in the run-up to Christmas.

The Rossoneri sit in a disappointing 10th place in the Serie A table with 13 points, only one point less than they had at this point last year after 12 games played.

With crucial Champions League encounters against Celtic and Ajax to come and a considerable amount of ground to make up on leader Roma in Serie A, Allegri is hoping for a repeat of the miraculous turnaround that saw his side finish third in the last campaign, starting with Saturday's clash against Genoa.

“This is an important month. We have seven games until Christmas, and tomorrow is crucial,” the coach said on Milan’s official channel. “We only have 13 points. We have time to remedy, but in Italy, all the matches are tough, especially for us at this time. Up to this moment we have lost several players through injury and suspension. But tomorrow we have to win regardless of who will or will not be there.”

Wish renewed speculation surrounding his future, Allegri also said that he did not expect to be Milan coach forever, but stressed his intention to create a positive bond between the players in his remaining time at the helm.

“I’ve been hearing the rumors of my sacking for four years,” he said. “Coaches are not eternal. I know that I cannot stay here for life, because in life, there are cycles that begin and end. The coach should encourage their players during training. There can’t be a lack of a sense of belonging. This is key, especially on a team like Milan.”
