TORONTO (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez returned to the New York Yankees lineup Tuesday after leaving Sunday's game with a sore right calf.
Rodriguez, who was due to bat second and be the DH, tested his calf with some pregame drills before taking part in batting practice.
''I'm good,'' Rodriguez said as he walked off the field following his turn in the cage.
Rodriguez left Sunday's loss at Boston in the fifth inning with a strained right calf. He's also dealing with a sore left hamstring, suffered in last Tuesday's win at Baltimore.
Rodriguez is batting .283 with six home runs and 14 RBIs in 36 games. He missed the first four months of the season while recovering from hip surgery.
''I don't know how much we'll get out of him in the field the rest of the season, but I still think if he feels he can swing the bat, he can be productive,'' Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.
Left-hander Boone Logan, who has not pitched since Sept. 6 because of pain in his elbow, has been diagnosed with a bone spur after visiting Dr. James Andrews last week.
Logan will undergo surgery to remove the spur at the end of the season. Until then, he hopes to keep pitching through the pain as the Yankees chase a wild-card berth.
''Knowing what it is, I'm relieved,'' Logan said. ''I can deal with it a lot easier, mentally. Now when I feel it when I'm pitching, I'm not going to worry about it, I'm just going to pitch through it.''
Logan, 5-2 with a 3.26 ERA in 60 games, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday.
If that goes well, he could be available to pitch again Friday, when the Yankees begin a three-game series at home against San Francisco.
Yankees catcher Austin Romine was scratched from the lineup Tuesday. Girardi said Romine is not ready to return after suffering a concussion in Baltimore last Tuesday when he was hit in the mask by a foul tip.
''He went through his drills and felt good,'' Girardi said. ''I was under the assumption he was ready to go, but he's just not quite ready.''
Chris Stewart replaced Romine and batted ninth.
