Albany led throughout and dominated Maryland-Baltimore County in a 79-56 win Wednesday in Baltimore, sweeping the season matchup between the two teams. The Great Danes (18-7, 7-4 America East), who won their second in a row, were led by Jacob Iati's 14 points. DJ Evans added 12 and Peter Hooley 10 for the Great Danes. The Retrievers (6-17, 4-6) shot just 36 percent (21 of 59), including 5 of 17 on 3-pointers. The Great Danes, conversely, shot 55 percent (30 of 55) in the rout. The Retrievers opened the game missing their first seven shots and made just 19 percent of their field goals (6 of 31) as the Great Danes scored 20 of the game's first 25 points. Chase Plummer, who led the Retrievers with 15 points, finally got them over double-figures in points at the 3:59 mark of the first half, and the Great Danes went into intermission with a 36-19 advantage. Brian Neller added 12 points for the Retrievers. Things did not get any better for the Retrievers after the break, as the Great Danes went on a 17-4 run during the first 5:50 of the second half to extend their lead to 53-23. The Great Danes extended their lead to 33 on a Gary Johnson jumper with 8:22 left.
