Alan Anderson scores 22, Nets defeat Spurs

Automated Insights

The San Antonio Spurs turned it over on 17 possessions and only totaled 14 assists in a disappointing performance in which they were beaten by the Brooklyn Nets, 103-89. This is the seventh win for Brooklyn (22-25) in its last 10 games.

Alan Anderson came off the bench and scored 22 points on 9-15 shooting, including 2-3 on 3-point attempts. Brooklyn also got solid performances from Deron Williams with 16 points and 8 assists, Paul Pierce with 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Andray Blatche with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Despite the loss, Cory Joseph put up 18 points for San Antonio on 5-12 shooting (1-3 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 7-7 from the free throw line.

Poor shooting (eFG% of 44.5%) combined with sloppy ball-handling (TO% of 17.8) proved too much to overcome for the Spurs. On the season, they are 0-1 when posting an eFG% of worse than 45% while also giving the ball away on more than 17% of their possessions. The Nets are 5-1 when coaxing their opponents into such substandard offensive showings.

This loss snaps a three-game winning streak for San Antonio, dropping them to 36-14 on the year.

Coming up, the Nets take on the Detroit Pistons, who are 19-29 on the season. The Spurs meet the Charlotte Bobcats, currently sitting at 22-28 this year. The Nets came up short against Detroit each of the last two times they've met.
