Four more ties and four lead changes followed, with Jose Long's free throw putting Alabama A&M ahead 57-56 with 4:08 left. The foul shot sparked a 6-1 run that included another 3-pointer from Ellis.

Marquiz Baker's 3-pointer for the Braves (9-20, 7-7) with 2:21 left pulled Alcorn State within 62-60, but the team didn't score again until Anthony Nieves' layup with 13 seconds left, too late for a comeback.
