Alabama edged out in-state rival Auburn and three other finalists for the commitment of Cooper Bateman, a four-star quarterback who is one of the best pro-style signal-callers in the Class of 2013.
The Cottonwood High School (Salt Lake City, UT) star, who is deceptively athletic, goes through his progressions well and rarely forces the football, also considered LSU, Florida and Washington. Stanford was also a candidate before the Cardinal landed four-star signal-caller Ryan Burns.Philadelphia Eagles fullback Stanley Havili and California starting running back Isi Sofele.
Landing Bateman is a very good "get" for Nick Saban and his staff because he's a player with very good upside. He has good arm strength as well as good touch and zip on his throws. But perhaps his best trait is his accuracy. The scary part is that he still seems to have a high ceiling, which bodes well for the Crimson Tide.
