TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's Justin Kamplain, Jay Shaw and Geoffrey Bramblett combined to throw the school's first nine-inning no-hitter since 1942 as the Crimson Tide defeated Mississippi Valley State 7-0 on Saturday.
Kamplain (2-1) struck out a career-high 12 - including his last 10 outs - in seven innings, Shaw walked one in an inning and Bramblett retired all three batters he faced in the ninth. The three combined to strike out 15 for Alabama (8-5).
The no-hitter was the eighth in the program's history and the first since three pitchers combined on a six-inning no-no in 1993. It was the first time Alabama had a nine-inning no-hitter since Eddie Owcar had one against Mississippi on April 24, 1942.
Jonathan Parker (0-3) took the loss for Mississippi Valley State (0-14).
